Zimbl was officially launched as the first rental company in the UK or Europe offering an hourly & delivered (off-grid HVO-powered) all-electric vehicle fleet, making travel more efficient, reducing emissions and supporting more sustainable communities.

During its first few years the company has expanded throughout Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire allowing local communities to have an EV vehicle delivered to their door for an affordable by the hour or daily rate. From humble beginnings in the pilot town of Banbury, Zimbl today has a fleet of off-grid-charged fifteen vehicles, 2,500 plus users and has received more than 7,000 bookings.

The company is now being scaled up considerably, with plans to roll out 40 Zimbl hubs (Z-Hubs) in housing developments across the UK, featuring as a minimum, EV hire and charging infrastructure as well as optional smart grid/ Hydrogen or HVO to generate sustainable energy. The hubs can also feature a e-bike, e-taxi and e-delivery services alongside a café, farm food shop and coworking space.

Behind each hub will be a high-tech backbone that will empower Zimbl users experience within the built environment and capture data on the behaviours of all Zimbl users, providing value-rich information to support future developments and improve planning outcomes.
